Abstract

Boredom, a topic of discussion developed in the Mid-Nineteenth Century, was studied by Martin Heidegger in The Fundamental Concepts of Metaphysics: World, Finitude, Solitude, in which the philosopher has provided us probably the most extensive philosophical analysis of this state of being. The first section of this article aims to introduce Heidegger’s analysis of boredom, the second section will propose a relationship between Heidegger and the avant-garde of the 1920s on this subject, boredom.
