Abstract
This article considers the notion and implications of the sense in the field of discontinuous writing. The “defective” or incomplete condition of a fragmentary work permits both questioning the stability of the text as a closed on itself semiotic object and proposing the capacity of fragments to promote a hermeneutic movement that transcends the textual reality. The mentioned issues will be illustrated by the writing process of authors like Georges Perec and Péter Esterházy, and also by a Moby Dick’s critical rereading.
