Resum

In this paper are compared p-wave and bulk density data from Geotek multi-sensor core logger device and the same parameters obtained with standards methods (EN norms) for natural stone samples. MSCL is a worldwide referring for the physical properties analysis of sediment drill cores but there are no news about natural building rocks logging. The results show a good fit between MSCL and standards data, especially in lower porosity and higher density materials. Deviations between both groups of measurements occur when porosity increases. Magnetic susceptibility data has not been yet used for natural stone characterization studies. Geotek’s MSCL may be an interesting tool for correlating rocks forming buildings and its original source quarries because it is a very quick, cheap, non-destroyer and quality controlled way for gathering a lot of physical parameters in natural stone cores.
