Abstract
The fondness for the use of aromas in the Islamic world is far from being a trivial matter. The transcendental role that the consumption of fragrances acquired in al-Andalus as one more element of affirmation of power and expression of royal magnificence is highlighted when exploring its sophisticated applications in courtly ceremonial thanks to the information provided by textual and visual sources, as well as through the contextual study of some luxurious containers for perfumes produced in the palatine manufactures.
