Résumé
This pleural effusion (PE) management protocol does not intend to provide an exhaustive evaluation of all causes and treatments indicated in each case, but rather an initial approach to patients who, upon evaluation in the emergency department, are diagnosed with PE. Clinicians who treat this disease are offered guidelines that serve as a tool for support during the evaluation, emphasizing aspects that must not be forgotten and those considered the most important.
