The greatest territorial area of Cuba is related with the intraplate seismicity of the North American plate. This territory is defined in the West Neotectonic Unit with ~900 perceptible earthquakes (1492-2013). The maximum magnitude value esti- mated is 6.2, earthquakes of 1880 and 1914. The strongest earthquakes show a recurrence period upper 100 years. These events have some casualties and injured, but much less than of the Southeastern Cuban region (~100). Seismic activity is justified by the dynamic influence of the Caribbean-North American plate boundary on the fault zones and their intersections.
