Abstract

The archives of the National Library of Spain conserve the photographic documentation corresponding to Eduard Foertsch. German writer and journalist, he served as a correspondent on therebel side during the Spanish Civil War. The material is made up of more than 4000 photographsfrom film negatives to prints, including handwritten notes, delivery envelopes and empty photographic reels. The study of the archives sets out to contextualize the material, recover the figure ofthe author, complete his biography and establish the path that he made during the conflict. The workcontributes to the history of the Spanish Civil War and opens new fields of research in the studiesof war photojournalism of this period.
