Abstract

References to the wars in Africa require a timeline. While studying the continuous battles as of theend of the 19th century, some historians have not separated the different stages of the conflict, buthave considered it to be one, continuous war, especially during the period between 1909 and1927. The role of the graphic reporters in those conflicts was fundamental for determining and interpreting the events, as well as for providing society with a different view to that of the written pressand also the official version of the events. Many of those responsible for the graphic informationwere experienced reporters, but there were also many others whose contribution was never recognized as their names were not cited in the captions below the photographs for whatever reason. Thepurpose of this study is to highlight their contribution in those wars, which have barely been studiedfrom the point of view of the images.
