Abstract

This article minds to review the etiology and characteris- tics of the different types of self-inflicted lesions in patients with generalized development disorders. Therefore, this arti- cle is a wide bibliographic review of the prevention possibili- ties and treatment in each case, specially its craniofacial mani- festations. The multitude of clinical entities which are associated to this kind of self-injury behavior makes necessary an indivi- dualized approach to treatment.
