Abstract
Aim: to investigate the incidence of enamel defects and caries index in coeliac patients and compare the results obtai- ned with control patients. Study desing: the oral cavity was explored in 213 patients with coeliac disease and in 80 control patients. The decayed, missing and filled index rates were also established. Results: enamel defects were observed in 43% of the patients with coeliac disease and in the 37% of the control patients. The differens between the two groups were not signi- ficant estadistically. The DMFT were higger in control patients than in patients with coeliac disease.
