Abstract
With new technologies and the great development of the Internet, the communication of opinions and facts has been democratized. We can all say what we want and transmit it through social networks at high speed to millions of people. And, precisely due to this uncontrollable spread of messages, actions have multiplied that -directly related to the word- are affecting the rights of others: hate crimes, discriminatory messages, insults, praising terrorism, disinformation, Hoaxes, etc... This worries the States, which have set to work to try to control these new dysfunctions in the media world. New legislation that affects the control of messages and that affects, deliberately or not, directly, freedom of expression. This paper aims to draw attention to this reality, to the exaggerated and unfair limits that are being imposed on freedom of expression with the excuse of protecting some citizens’ rights. In contrast to these laws, it is proposed to bet on laws that are more respectful of freedom of expression, in some cases, and invest in media literacy, in others.
