Abstract

The Episcopal seat of Segobriga is known as a result of the appearance of their bishops to the Concilia toletana between 589 and 693 AD. The archaeological register provides certain considerations about the monumental structure of the late roman city, showing the organisation of the Diocese and its prestigious spaces. On the one hand, the funeral basilica located outside the walls, which was excavated in the end of the eighteenth century; on the other side, a potential episcopium inside the city that has been identified from several sculptural items dating from the Visigothic period.
