Resumo
This work examines the key indicators for comparing the progress of the Spanish economy in recent years. A systematic and progressive decline in per capita income in comparison to EU countries is observed, which is likely not independent of the constant weakness in private investment in equipment, the scarcity of resources allocated to R&D, and consequently, the limited success in innovation. Subsequently, some institutional aspects that lead to a loss of social confidence are analyzed, hindering the reversal of the aforementioned economic trends and preventing the Spanish economy from evolving along a definitive path of progress.
