Zusammenfassung
The information on dental ceramics appears very scattered in the bibliography. The general aim of this paper intents to show a sinoptycal and sistematized review of modern ceramics and porcelains. Three partial objetives have been developped: to explain a few basic concepts about constitution, structure and general properties of clasical porcelains and modern ceramics; to classify and describe differences between various groups of ceramics that can be found on market today; and to obtain sorne clinical considerations as final conclusions.
