Abstract

Art. 23.1 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights establishes that equality between men and women must be guaranteed in all areas, including employment, work and remuneration. Taking this obligation as a reference, this paper analyzes how the principle of gender equality has progressed in the European Union, to move on to extrapolate it to a very particular area such as the armed forces and, specifically, in international missions. All this, in line with the implementation of Security Council resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security. With the particularity that both texts, the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU and resolution 1325, were adopted the same year, in 2000; a coincidence that we did not want to let go unnoticed.
