Desarrollo turísco y medidas medioambientales en el sector aéreo: el ejemplo de Canarias

Resumo

This paper addresses three issues of great legal relevance: environmental protection, regulation of the aeronautical sector and the tourism regime. This is the question related to the recent proposal to amend the special regime that regulates the exemption of the outermost regions (RUP), among which is the Canary Islands, from the emission rights regime. Said amendment affects the flights that connect the islands with the rest of the EU in such a way that they would not be, as up to now, exempt from the new European green tax on kerosene. Therefore, it focuses on the issue of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme in relation to its application to aviation to ensure that aviation contributes to the 2030 emission reduction target in accordance with the European Green Deal.
