Abstract

The Revista de Escuelas Normales consolidated its influence in the 1920s and 1930s as one of the reference publications for Spanish teachers. This article focuses on analyzing the articulation of the discourse in favor of the integration of teacher training in the university structure in the beginning of the 20th century. For the analysis, the debate of notable relevance for Spanish teachers opened in the Revista de Escuelas Normales is taken as a reference. The objective is to study the way in which the arguments that were committed to opening academic spaces for teacher training were settling until they were concretized with the opening of the Pedagogy Section in January 1932. For this purpose, we pay to intellectual figures who promoted this initiative as well as the international institutional references that were taken into account.
