Abstract

The death of Aulus Fulvius is mentioned for the first time in Sallust's account of the conspiracy carried out by Catiline in the year 63 BC, although later other authors of the classical period echo this historical episode. In all these narratives it is stated that he was a young man who was executed by his own father when he tried to join the conspirators. However, it is not known if his death occurred as a result of the declaration issued by the Senate against the conspirators or if it was a case of application of the ius vitae ac necis. This article aims to shed some light on this issue by analyzing the sources that have been preserved.
