Abstract
After the recent financial crisis, the return to ethical values after the crisis highlights the need of the banking sector to have a more concrete compromise with society. The aim of this paper is to analyze in general, developments of ethical banking and, in particular, the case of Islamic banking as one of the most successful examples given the viability problems of this type of institutions. The potential growth of the Muslim population and its economy will be the factors for the development of the Islamic banking in the coming years.
