Abstract

Dyschromatopsia, commonly known as colour blindness, is a generally congenital condition, the vast majority affecting males, by which the chromatic vision is altered. The obvious consequence for realistic pictorial production is that, seen with normal chromatic vision, the colours painted by dyschromatopsic people differ from those present in the model. This paper presents an aspect of an ongoing research on the influence of dyschromatopsia in the university teaching-learning of painting. Specifically, it deals with the findings obtained so far regarding the chromatic distortions in still-life paintings produced by two dyschromatopsic students of the Degree in Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid. The main differences appear in the red and green tonalities.
