Abstract

The aim of this article is to discuss a short quote from Scienza nuova where Vico proposes an interesting etymology for the concepts of being and substance. The discussion will show up the relevance of this text for the understanding of the Vico’s ontology and will determine its genealogy and history in relation with the author’s work.
