Resumen

This paper describes the use of the microbial fuel cells (MFC), based on a Winogradsky- column design, as a didactic resource for initial training of teachers and pedagogues. The aim is to increase the presence of technological content in the experimental activities in the field of Science Education. In light of this, an interdisciplinary science-technology-engineering-mathematics (STEM) approach has been followed. This guarantees that students acquire the necessary skills so that they can, in turn, apply or advise on the previous approach in their future job positions at schools. MFC devices can also be used to introduce experimental techniques of voltammetry and impedance spectroscopy, optimal for the electrochemical characterization of fuel cells, although is demanded higher competence in mathematics.
