Résumé

The integration of the defense market in the European Union is a long-term process that is currently being driven forward in the wake of the war in Ukraine. However, important questions arise as to its evolution and impact on national industries and the configuration it may generate at the European level. The various national perspectives, the costs associated with increased European defense cooperation and integration, and the impacts of third country industries are factors to be considered. The whole European framework is based on the concept of strategic autonomy, without which Europe will remain an economic giant but with very little political power.
