Abstract
Eighty years after its publication, the chapter of Dialectic of Enlightenment devoted to the Culture Industry has not ceased to stimulate us, but also to generate misunderstandings. This article aims at analyzing the role of Freudian psychoanalysis in the Critical Theory of Culture Industry, as Adorno and Horkheimer formulated it, to help clarify its meaning and scope, as well as to enrich contemporary debates on the connections between economy, contemporary art, philosophy, and culture.
