We currently live in a highly digitalised society, in whichsocial networks are just another socialisation scenario for a large part of thepopulation. This qualitative study analyses the perception of families ofcurrent adolescents on the use of social networks in terms of the impact theyhave on the lives of minors. Four focus groups of parents of adolescentsaged between 14 and 16 were conducted. Atlas.Ti v.8 was used for dataanalysis. Participants expressed great concern about the dynamics generatedby using social networks at home. Safety on social networks is a concernfor families, although this is conditioned by the ability and involvement ofadults in social networks. It is necessary to improve cybersecurity preventionand training plans, to encourage the development of digital competenceby all educational agents, and to provide them with tools that facilitatethe protection of minors from inappropriate use of the Internet.
