Abstract
In the present study, cross-sectional tomographies have been taken in 190 cases where the panoramic radiographies showed a close relation of proximity between the third molar and the inferior alveolar nerve, in order to determine the true relationship between both. Results pointed out tha the canal was at the same height than the third molar in 35% of the cases, while in the remaining 65% was below it. Moreover, this procedure has enabled to determine the location of the canal with respect to the third molar in the buco-lingual direction, as well as the distance between them, with an average value of 1,30 mm.
