Abstract

This study analyses the script of the workshop of Juan de Carrión found in the text boxes of manuscript 854 of the Morgan Library & Museum. Its analysis shows the coexistence of several scripts typical of the second half of the fifteenth century in Spanish territory. We observe that capital Gothic bookhand, pre-humanistic script and, occasionally, Gothic minuscule coexist. The study allows us to identify the scribes of this work, their connection with the illuminators and to determine some of their writing’s graphic and cultural characteristics.
