Resumen
With the increase in life expectancy, there have been significant increases in the incidence of chronic diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular diseases and neurodegenerative diseases. Specifically, within this last group is dementia, a disease that affects some 50 million people worldwide, with some 10 million new cases reported each year, making it a public health priority.Cognitive capacity comprises a series of processes related to information processing, which can be affected, to a greater or lesser extent, leading to cognitive impairment (CI). CI is defined as impairment in one or more domains such as learning, memory, social functioning, language, visuospatial function, attention and executive function. Signs of CI include loss of memory, concentration, comprehension, recall and problem solving.
