Resumen

Saint Teresa of Jesus has been presented as a woman of strong character and fragile health, capable of challenging the authorities in order to fulfill her purposes. His bodily limitations allowed him to talk to God and go ahead with his project: to reform the Order of Carmel. We are before a being influenced by a literature that promotes idealized love, total dedication and sacrifice as proof of love, but, at the same time, convinced that the established system and the authorities are an impediment to the realization of his dreams. The Saint is a symbol of submission and rebellion. In this article we will try to find out how the city of Ávila combined these conflicting concepts, becoming a benchmark. To do this, we will analyze the works of "La Guerra según Santa Teresa" (2016) by María Folguera and "Muero porque no muero, la vida doble de Teresa" (2022), by Paco Bezerra.
