Dr. Bárbara Zubieta Jarén is an Associate Lecturer in the Department of English Studies: Linguistics and Literature at the Complutense University of Madrid, where she teaches "English for Specific Purposes" (ESP) for students in Statistics. She earned her Ph.D. in English Studies at the Complutense University of Madrid in 2016 with a dissertation awarded cum laude, titled "Oscar Wilde como artesano: la mediación de la identidad a través de los objetos en “The Picture of Dorian Gray” y “The Importance of Being Earnest”." This research explored the mediation of identity through objects in Wilde’s masterpieces, situating his work within broader cultural and material contexts. Her publications and Congress participation include studies on Wilde and the Pre-Raphaelites (“Aesthetic Legacy & Artisanal Identity: Wilde, the Pre-Raphaelites, and the Machine”, 2025), feminist and intersectional reinterpretations of myth (“Reimagining Myths: Leonora Carrington’s Feminist and Intersectional Critique”, 2025), Afrofuturism (“Octavia Butler y su novela Kindred en el panorama Afrofuturista”, 2024), and inclusive practices in bilingual classrooms (“Construyendo puentes: educación inclusiva, alumnado TEA y el poder del cómic en la adquisición de segundos idiomas”, 2024).
