Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis La renta regional en España análisis y estimación de sus determinantes 2001. Supervised by Dr. Juan Bueno Lastra.

Professor at UCM (Faculty of Commerce and Tourism and Faculty of Economics and Business) since 2001. He has been a member of the international relations committee of the Faculty of Economics and Business (2013-2019) and secretary of the Master in International Economics and Development between 2008 and 2019, when he became coordinator of that degree. He is deputy head of the Department of Applied Economics, Structure and History since June 2022. He has taught World Economy, Spanish and World Economics, Regional and Urban Economics, Spatial Economics and Quantitative Methods for Applied Economics. He is a researcher at the Complutense Institute of International Studies (ICEI), and a member of the research group Political Economy of Globalization. He has been a reviewer for several national and international institutions and publications. He is Director of the electronic journal Papeles de Europa. He has participated in several research and educational innovation projects.
