Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Tuberculosis caprina estudio de la respuesta inmune y aportaciones a su diagnóstico 2011. Supervised by Dr. Lucía de Juan Ferré, Dr. Ana Isabel Mateos García, Dr. Lucas José Domínguez Rodríguez.

Degree in Veterinary Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid (1996-2001). PhD in Veterinary Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid (2011), with a thesis on immunology and tuberculosis diagnosis in goats, awarded Summa Cum Laude. Currently, I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Animal Health at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UCM, Head of the Clinical Trials Service, and researcher in the Health Surveillance Research Group at VISAVET-UCM (rated excellent by the Spanish Research Agency). Additionally, I serve as Deputy Director of the EU-RL (European Union Reference Laboratory) for Bovine Tuberculosis. I am the author of over 110 scientific publications (30% as first or last author) in international indexed journals (ORCID 0000-0003-1913-0545; Scopus 22833847400; h-index 32, Q1) and have contributed to more than 350 presentations at national and international conferences. I have led or currently lead the national project GoaTBfree (2020-2023), funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, and I am the coordinator of the international project imdiTBap (ICRAD-AEI, 2023-2026) as well as the contract with the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food supporting the Bovine Tuberculosis Eradication Program (2020-2022 and 2023-2025) (total budget exceeding €1.5 million). Additionally, I have participated as a research team member in more than 30 projects and research contracts. I actively contribute as a reviewer for scientific journals and funding agencies and serve as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Veterinary Science (epidemiology and economics section), BMC Veterinary Research, and Vaccines. I have completed research stays at: University of Minnesota (USA) Animal Health Veterinary Laboratories Agency (Weybridge, UK) Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Madrid, Spain) Central Veterinary Research Laboratory (Dublin, Ireland) Central Institute for Animal Disease Control (Lelystad, Netherlands) Previously, I was Head of R&D at MAEVA SERVET SL under a Torres-Quevedo contract (MINECO, 2014-2017) and a Juan de la Cierva researcher in the Department of Animal Health, UCM (2018-2019). I have been a member of the Tuberculosis Subgroup of the Task Force of the European Commission and the Science Oversight Group (SOG) of DEFRA. Additionally, I have served as an expert for the EFSA (experimental vaccination trials against bovine tuberculosis in the UK) and participated in the evaluation of bovine tuberculosis eradication programs for the European Commission. I am an expert in animal experimentation and welfare and designated veterinarian for the VISAVET-UCM animal facility (holding responsibilities B, C, D, E, and F as per RD 53/2013).
