Marta Pérez Estébanez holds a PhD in Chemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid since 2012. Her research career is focused on the field of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. She was a postdoctoral researcher between 2013 and 2015 at the Telc Centre of Excellence (CET) in the Czech Republic, belonging to the Czech Academy of Sciences, in the laboratory of physico-chemical analysis of materials within the European programme: ‘Materials, technologies and methods for the long-term conservation of cultural heritage’. During this period she spent one month at the Department of Geosciences of the University of Padua. In 2016 she obtained a postdoctoral fellowship at the National University of San Martin (UNSAM) (Argentina), at the Institute for Research on Cultural Heritage (IIPC) to develop her own project: ‘Application of micro-diffraction and Raman spectroscopy on cultural heritage assets’. In 2018 she joined the Department of Painting and Conservation-Restoration of the UCM and the research group ‘Documentation techniques, conservation and restoration of heritage’ as a postdoctoral researcher. Since May 2022 she is assistant professor at the same department. She has participated in several national and international research projects and in numerous contracts with public and private institutions. She has supervised several students in external internships, TFGs, TFMs and doctoral theses.
