GARCÍA PEREIRA

Félix García Pereira is a PhD student in climate science at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He finished his MSc studies in Meteorology and Geophysics in 2018 and worked as a research assistant for Guadarrama Monitoring Network (GuMNet) until 2020. Nowadays, his research activity is mainly devoted to studying the impact of implementing a more realistic physical representation of land surface models (LSMs) in Earth System Models (ESMs), with a special focus on its effect on climate variability over the last 2000 years (past2k). In that sense, he has some experience running the MPI-ESM and its respective LSM, JSBACH, the CMIP6 reference model of Max Planck Institute of Meteorology, and contributed to setting up and monitoring the first ESM past2k simulation with a deep LSM. Furthermore, his thesis also addresses subsurface thermal structure from an observational perspective, evaluating the thermal diffusion regime characteristics at some sites in Central Spain. His work in that field was granted an award in the "PhDay Físicas 2021" contest organized by the Physics Faculty of Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
