Juan Evaristo Valls Boix is Assistant Professor of Philosophy of Culture at the Complutense University of Madrid, where he was accredited for promotion to Associate Professor (Titular de Universidad) in August 2026. He has held a postdoctoral research position at the University of California, Riverside, and has been a visiting researcher at institutions including the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, the University of Copenhagen, and Stony Brook University (SUNY). He holds two PhDs, in Contemporary Philosophy and Literary Theory, and is a member of the research groups “Post-Foundational Contemporary Thought” (University of Barcelona) and “Contemporary Aesthetics: Art, Politics and Society” (Complutense University of Madrid). His research focuses on imaginaries of idleness and the refusal of work in late capitalism, with particular attention to the politics of affect and contemporary French philosophy. His publications include the essays *Metafísica de la pereza* (NED Ediciones, 2022), *El derecho a las cosas bellas* (Ariel, 2025), and *JOMO. El gusto de perder* (Anagrama, 2026). He is also the editor of the two volumes *Dolor capital. Afectos de resistencia y malestar social* and *Placer común. Gramáticas del deseo postcapitalista* (NED Ediciones, 2026).
