Doctor by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid with the thesis Valor pronóstico de los factores clinicopatológicos y marcadores inmunohistoquímicos en pacientes con cáncer gástrico operado modelos predictivos, afectación ganglionar y clasificación molecular 2023. I am a Consultant Pathologist at Hospital Clínico San Carlos in Madrid, hold a PhD in Medical and Surgical Sciences from Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), and have been an Associate Professor of Pathology at the UCM School of Medicine since 2022. I work as a consultant pathologist at Hospital Clínico San Carlos in Madrid, where I have been practising since 2018. My research focuses on oncological pathology, particularly gastric cancer and gastrointestinal pathology, as well as the study of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers, molecular tumour classification, and cytopathology. I lead research projects investigating prognostic factors, predictive models, and lymph node staging in gastric cancer, and participate in competitively funded biomedical research projects. My scientific output includes nearly 90 publications in national and international journals, more than 50 as first author, as well as two book chapters and over 100 presentations at scientific conferences. In 2023, I obtained my PhD with the distinction sobresaliente cum laude for a doctoral thesis investigating the prognostic significance of clinicopathological factors and immunohistochemical biomarkers in gastric cancer. This research has received three awards: the Extraordinary Doctoral Award from Complutense University of Madrid (2024), the National Doctoral Award in Clinical and Surgical Sciences from the Royal National Academy of Medicine of Spain (2024), and Third Prize in the Margarita Salas Research Awards in Life Sciences from Madrid City Council (2025). My academic activities include teaching in the Medicine and Podiatry degree programmes, educational innovation, editorial work for international scientific journals, and participation in science communication initiatives. My additional training encompasses oncology, bioethics, and research methodology, and I am currently pursuing studies in the History of Science and Science Communication. Since 2026, I have served as a member of the National Commission for Pathology of the Spanish Ministry of Health.
