LEVEL UP is a pioneering project that sets out to empower older citizens (60+) in Europe, especially in Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Spain to develop a critical approach to the media and build their resilience to mis/disinformation across diverse themes including General Mis/Disinformation, Health, Science & Climate, Conspiracy Theories, Artificial Intelligence and Online Scams. Through the development of a cross-border and multilingual toolkit, adaptable to any country´s context and language with the aim of being expanded to other countries in Europe, the project aims to equip older adults with the necessary tools and knowledge to discern between reliable and misleading information in the digital sphere and to enhance resilience and promote active participation of this group of citizens in the digital realm through a multilingual program. Central to this program is an accessible, adaptable and user-friendly educational video game consisting of 5 levels, one for each theme, based on a contextualised Q&A format. A content management system will be implemented for the administration and customization of questions and topics, ensuring a personalised experience for users based on their geographic location and individual preference. Additionally, the project will facilitate workshops to older citizens and a Training of Trainers program targeting professional workers and related stakeholders. The whole toolkit will be piloted by focus groups of European older citizens to include feedback for improvement. Furthermore, a raising-awareness communication campaign will be implemented consisting of celebration of public forums, attending media literacy festivals and celebrating educational gaming events, to present the toolkit and promote awareness and engagement of relevant stakeholders. LEVEL UP will also hold local exhibitions of videos presented by older adults along with spaces for visitors to participate in the video game and engage with the workshop resource.
