Abstract

ABSTRACT 1.- Introduction: In Spain there is a high percentage of people who are sedentary and do not practice any physical activity. Inadequate diets for deficiency or excess are risk factors for the most prevalent chronic diseases. A sufficient and balanced diet provides the energy and nutrients that the human being needs in each stage of life. Nutritional status reflects whether ingestion, absorption and utilization of nutrients are adequate to meet the body's needs. 2.- Objectives: To establish a causal relationship between the practice of sports and the maintenance of good eating habits with the anthropometric data obtained. 3.- Material and methods: We selected 122 athletes and 20 sedentary. For the collection of data, a medical-sport questionnaire was carried out. Afterwards, they received nutritional. Anthropometric measurements were taken as collected by the International Society of the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK). This protocol is followed and accepted by the Spanish Group of Cineanthropometry (GREC). 4.- Conclusion: Athletes present better anthropometric measures than sedentary ones, even ingesting more kilocalories and macronutrients daily. The practice of sports influences positively when maintaining good anthropometric data.
