Abstract

In this paper, we analyse the recreation of medieval topics and motifs in audiovisual microstories, especialIy "love potion" and "fantasy" in advertising. We base this analysis on four advertisements about deodorant (three of AXE and one of Lynx) along with the following works: Tristán e Iseo by Béroul and Picatrix by Seudo Abul-Casim Maslama ben Ahamad 'el madrileño'. When comparing them, we demonstrate the fusion of the mythological symbolic element with everyday life in these spots, fact which gives us the opportunity to show transcendental ideas arising from a product like a deodorant, from a compensatory point of view, 'In the context of a difficult world reality. This compensation is one of the main functions of fantasy short stories.
