Resumen
This article shows the result of the research project Multilingual Cities, coordinated from Tilburg University in The Netherlands and carried out in public and private schools with state subsidy of Madrid. The main objective of this research was to carry out a survey for collecting reliable information on the home languages of pupils with an immigrant background. To collect this kind of information had served as a way to measure different aspects on the question of immigrant children. In one hand, because the information collected has been used to establish the vitality index of the languages mentioned by pupils participating in our survey. In another hand, because this information has also led to a better knowing of the home language teaching programs developed in Madrid
