Zusammenfassung

Este trabajo analiza los factores explicativos del gasto en defensa en los países que forman la OTAN, entre 1996 y 2006. Se han utilizado factores explicativos económicos, estratégico-militares y políticos. El análisis se ha realizado a través de técnicas de datos de panel dinámico, y sus resultados muestran la importancia de la inercia en el gasto en defensa de los países, el desigual efecto de la renta, el efecto de los precios relativos y la existencia de cierta sustitución de gasto propio por gasto de los países aliados.
