Abstract

The SOU-estuTUtor project responds to the new student’s adaptation needs in the Faculty of Education at UCM. It aims to foster and streamline the University Counseling Service (SOU), offering a referral service to promote their active participation at the university in order to establish a participatory and collaborative educational community focused on peer-mentoring. Besides a better integration of new students, the project develops professional skills of mentor students in the areas of orientation and educational tutorship. The work structure rests on six interrelated axes (information, training, counseling, mentoring, extension and quality) and the commitment and voluntary implication of teachers, graduate collaborators and students. The results reflect a high level of satisfaction of participating students, both mentors and mentees (96%), highlighting the project success
