Abstract

In this introduction, we will review the main challenges facing secondary-level teachers of Spanish language in Spain today. We will focus on four points that we consider fundamental: the curriculum of the language subject; questions related to course content, like the lack of sequencing or the tendency to cover material exhaustively; the training that Spanish language teachers receive; and, finally, the difficulties entailed in the use of grammatical terminology.
