Abstract

In this article, it is argued that the debate about “care work” –if it is labor or not- is less significant than the debate about what practices point out to the “sustainability of life at the center”. To that end, some care practices of unemployed people are rhythmanalyzed, and it is hypothesized that potentially postcapitalist care practices are those that: 1) neither are pressed by a competitive temporality –so that they tend to be experienced as “labor”-; 2) nor reproduce a patriarchal division of time which is subordinated to labor and laborers time.
