Resum
This article is an examination of the basic principles of the structural-functional model of the system of types of words mainly developed by A. T. Krivonosov. We examine the principles to define and classify the types of words, a model which encompasses the full complexity and specificity oflanguages when configuring their units. Finally, we apply the structural-functional model in the Spanish language and develop the case of modal particles in more detail
