Résumé

During 2015 it took place a geotechnical and geophysical exploration in the Atacama Desert (Chile) for the design of a power solar plant.Resistivity data obtained in El Batea Fm. were extremely high (107Ω·m).For this reason, sampling of near surface geological units were made in order to study its mineralogical composition with X-Ray Difraction (XRD). Mineral composition of El Batea Fm.shows an almost total absence of waterand a very low porosity. These factors cause that the electrolytic component in this formation is almost negligible, and its electrical conductivity matches with theconductivity of the pure mineral phases. These characteristics are probably due to the extreme environmental conditions. El Batea Fm. has a barrier to evapotranspiration, because the resistivity values of the lower formation arepractically normal (103-104Ω·m).
