Abstract

The purpose of carry out a geological-geotechnical characterization is to determine the conditions of the marine substrate to guarantee the stability and resistance for built a dike. The design of the dike must satisfy the requirements of solicitations of loads for the embarkation and debarkation of passengers and merchandise.The methodology used has been based on the use of geological, geomorphological, and tectonic information, geotechnical tests such as the simple compression resistance test (RCS), the standard penetration test (SPT) and the rock quality designation (RQD), and the bathymetry of the coast of the Santo Domingo City coast to correlate the surface lithology with the marine substrate, to determine characteristics, properties and strength parameters of materials for the necessaries geotechnical considerations...
