Abstract

Landscape ecology provides a conceptual framework and tools to study the current structure and dynamics of landscapes. There are some indices that analyses the composition and configuration of mosaics, taking into account the temporal, scalar and spatial variability in the study area. This study applies to four areas localised in the RioTragadero basin, in the east of Chaco province (northeast region of Argentina). The aims of this study are to obtain a diagnostic and an inventory of landscape types based on the analysis and explanation of landscape structure, using remotesensing, GIS technology and the innovative tools and techniques of landscape ecology.
