Abstract
This paper addresses the analysis of five short films made in France between 1896 and 1913. If anything characterizes these five works of filmmakers such as Georges Méliès, Émile Cohl, Second Chomón and André Deed is the spectacularization of incoherent situations. The presence of incoherencies is justified in some cases through the representation of nightmares. There are also cases in which the wild card of nightmare is omitted.
