Abstract

Overweight and obesity are current health problems linked to life-style changes, and more specifically to feeding. Trying to reduce health related problems, several products have appeared although their properties have not been assessed. On the other hand, due to science progression foods for special regimes and food that can help overweight or obesity people are available, without forgetting the importance of consuming conventional foods, within a specific and balanced diet design for losing weight. In the 80’s the so called functional foods emerged in Japan, widely spread in the world, meaning a potential aid for people with overweight/obesity. In the present paper we will speak about ingredients and functional foods that could warrantee health benefits for people needing to lose weight.
